Using a Tangram

When I was in elementary school, a fellow student had a bag with several plastic shapes in it. He let me play with them and I loved them so much that he gave them to me. For many years, I kept it and enjoyed making shapes with it. Then, I went to the Liberty Science Center and saw a large version of it. Sadly, I misplaced mine before high school and couldn't remember what it was called so that I could look for another one. Then, I went to Maxiaids and found one! It's a tangram.

The description said that it makes a square, but when I looked it up on Wikipedia, they said that tangrams can be used to make all sorts of shapes and that many had been documented. Can the one from Maxiaids be used in the same way? I don't see why not but figured I'd ask. Is there an accessible site or book with the patterns so that I can learn how to make the various shapes? If not, then could someone give me some instructions on trying a few? Keep in mind that I've never seen and that, though I worked a bit with gemoetry, I don't really remember most terms etc.
